Once the cassava root crop is harvested, it is washed thoroughly with clean running water to remove dirt and mud.  Then the brown skin or outer layer of the cassava is removed to reveal the white edible part of the root crop that is then grated in making a simple cassava cake.

You can find this cassava root crop being sold commonly in most markets in the Philippines nationwide.  If you are an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) or if you are living abroad, you can also find preserved and grated cassava in the frozen section of most Asian grocery stores.

Ingredients in Making the Cassava Cake:

Here are the simple ingredients that you will need in making this simple Cassava Cake Recipe:
  • 2 packs grated cassava
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 3 large whole eggs
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup macapuno strings
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese - for topping

Ingredients in Making Custard Filling for Cassava Cake:

For the Custard Filling, you will also need:
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk

Here are the Step by Step Procedures on How To Make Cassava Cake.  In a bowl, combine the following ingredients:
